Mimi
My grandmother was filled with so much love and compassion! She was a women filled with laughter and joy. She died when I was only five years old. However, in those short five years, Mimi touched my life more than I could ever imagine. She proved her strength in the end when she suffered from Alzheimer disease that eventually took her life. But, she fought through the hard times, determined to be a part of her sons (my father) and her grandchildren's lives. Mimi is forever in my memory as a strong women who suffered great tragedy. But, in the face of all her and family sadness, she was a light that guided us into her heart. I will never forget the song that she would sing to me. We would sit on the couch and she would hold me and say, "I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". And then she would give me the warmest hug that will always be part of our relationship. I love my grandma Mimi with all of my heart and her memory will live on forever.
